Day 5

We went on a company visit to?

                We didn’t gone to a company. we went to Rizal Park in Manila. then we went to national museum in Manila City. we went to tutuban mall in manila in the afternoon.

What I learned?

                I learned something historic that time. I learned that, it is in Rizal Park where the zero post was located and also I learned that the kalesa in Rizal Park is limited in the area. They are just touring around the area. I also learned that the kalesa in the Rizal Park is different an is not used for commuting. The kalesas that are used in commuting are can be seen in outside the park. In the national museum, I saw the treasures in the galleon that was displayed there. i also saw different species that were only seen in the Philippines.

What I liked?

                I liked the bus that we used that time. I liked the things that I saw in the Rizal park. I like also the

feeling to ride in a kalesa, it drives me crazy that time. I like the things that I saw in the national museum. The displays are priceless. I liked also the tutuban mall. The price of the items are cheap and they have also friendly sales persons. The quality of their product Is good. The price is worth buying.

What I don’t like

                I don’t like that there were no comfort room in the Rizal Park. The national museum is not air conditioned. i don’t like the crowded place outside Tutuban Mall. The place was snug and I almost had difficulty in breathing while I was there.

Day 4

We went on a company visit to?

                SSS(Social Security System) in Mandaluyong City in the morning and Exist Global in Pasig city in the afternoon.

What I learned?

                In that day I was gone to somewhere everybody should go, so that to their social security. I learned what was the history of the company. I learned how insurance company doing business and what do they do to their money to so that the company can handle the expenses  to the client and to the workers. I learned how the money circulating in the company. in the afternoon, we went to Exist Global where they told us about the history of their company. They also told us about the programming language that the used in developing products and services. That time, I learned what are the programming language used by them. One of the speaker also tells about how to deal someone in a team.

What I liked?

                First, I liked what I wore that time. Second, I like what we had our lunch and I was full that time. in the company, I like the way they accommodate us. in the SSS I like their display, it shows everything about their company.

What I don’t like

                I don’t like the fact that we didn’t saw the data center of SSS(Social Security System). I don’t like also the building where they took us. I don’t like the symposium in the SSS, it makes feel sleep or something like dizzy. In the afternoon, I don’t like the company visit in exist because they didn’t tour us to their workspace. At that time everything happened quickly. It was just like nothing happened.

Day 3

We went on a company visit to?

                We went on a company visit to fluor Daniel Inc. in  Muntinlupa City and  to the DOST in Taguig.

What I learned?

                The first thing I realized and learned is that some places in metro manila is not organize. it’s somewhat like there is no zoning plan for the city, most of the building was not finished and jeeps are suddenly stop in the middle of the road. I realized that Metro manila is very busy place. people are so busy that they forgot to notice about their surroundings. While the bus was travelling, I learned little thing from the tour guide, like that EDSA(Epifanio De los Santos Avenue) was called highway 54. I also realized that the tour guide maybe perfected his job . in the fluor Daniel Incorporated, there was some discussion which I think would improve me in my approach to any problem. I learned the structure of the company. I learned the things to be done when trapped in the elevator. The speaker also discussed about how to adjust ourselves when we are in the team which made me learn about how to adjust myself to the other in the team or teammates. When they tour us to their company, they showed us the working place of the employee in doing their own work. E realized that a big screen can help the user to do more work than a small screen computer.  They also showed us their data center, which made me knew what would the connection of a computer network would look like, and, I also learned how the data server was taking care so that it will not affect the computer network of a company every time It will encounter unnecessary circumstances. And I also learned what programming language and application was used that help them do their work.

What I liked?

                The first thing I like in the day, is that I had my breakfast in the hotel and I had unlimted rice. I alse like the city that we visit, it is Muntinlupa City. I like also the arrangement of the building in alabang center and also I liked the view and scenery of Muntinlupa at the top. I like also the system of security of the building that visited. Thay are strict and it just like in the airport. I liked also the humor of the speaker of IT department in their company. I also like that they took us to their data network which made asked questions all the time. And lastly in that company, the snack is awesome. The pasta and the bread is appealing. In the dost, i like the idea that we can avail their kiosk. I like it when I know that the speaker is from Mindanao. After those company visit, we went to the Market! Market! the mall has a cheap prices and they had approachable saleslady. I like it that time because I brought nice items there.

What I don’t like

                After I got prepared for the trip, the first thing that I think is that I will saw again the crowded and unordered place outside the hotel. This is the time when the air condition of our bus is not doing well. So we opened our window, and made us breath the warm air of manila. That time the bus was so warm which severed my colds. At that time I don’t want the trivia of the guide, because I thought that I heard them the previous days. in the fluor Daniel Incorporated, I don’t like the arrangement of the conference room where they took us. I can’t see what the speaker writing on the white board. I can’t almost even hear some of the words the speaker said that time. I don’t like also the elevator of their building, they there’s no poster or whatsoever that indicate that certain elevator was going directly to the 6 floor. There will high risk that the first timer of that building can’t notice and getting their selves directly to the 6^th floor which will cover their time and make them hustle just like we experience that time.

Day 2

We went on a company visit to?

                Philippine Youth Congress on Information Technology(y4IT) in Up(University of the Philippines). In Quezon City.

What I learned?

                I learned many things in the conference. The first one is that sir Engr. Randy Gamboa is president of PSITE(Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators) Foundation. the second one is that Sen. Tito Sotto is chairman of Science and Technology in the senate.  And the third one is that the ikot and toki jeep is not really touring around the campus, when the sign is toki, it would be going outside the campus. i learned about some ideas in game development. i learned also the different career opportunities that are existing in game development field.  I learned also the features about the Windows Phone Operating System.  I found out the difference of between the features between android operation system and Mac Operation System.  I also learned the edge of the window operating system to the other mobile operating system.

What I liked?

                I like how the event was organized by the facilitators of y4it. The snack also was nice. I enjoyed also the emcees of the event. They are fun and entertaining. I like how they introduce some ice breakers. Also I like the fact that they hire singers to sing for us while we are in our snack time. It boost the audience for a while.

What I don’t like

                I don’t like the things I realize that there are other people entering the campus even if they are not students there. There are some kids begging for foods and money. I don’t like the fact that the events don’t have activities that would let the participants interact with each other. I don’t like also to think that we didn’t see their building  and research in Computer Science department, like field trip class experienced.

Day 1

I went on a company visit to?

PLDT(Philippine Long Distance Telephone) Company innoLab building. The company is located in front of Rizal Technological University in Mandaluyong City. And Spi global in Paranauque City.

What I learned?

                First thing that I learned when I arrived to Manila is that the building in the movies that I saw is not a joke or some trick. They’re amazingly huge and tall, and there are numbers of them. While the bus is running, I found people living in a tight place under the bridge doing nothing.  I learned that they got the tallest building in the country but they also got the shortest and snuggest place in the country.

                While taking my breakfast in the bus, I found out that McDonalds offers eggs and pancakes since I was eating it that time. Other than that, while eating my breakfast in a running bus, I also learned that it is hard to eat in a running vehicle. And also while in the bus, the tour guide told us something about the landmark that we are about to go by.

 In the PLDT innoLab, i learned about the history of the PLDT. From the year of it established to what the company is now.  I also learned the different technologies that the company used when it was first established. They showed the about improvement of the telephone industry over the years. In our discussion with Engr. Edmund Mamboyo, I learned many things about him and I also learned the concept of transmitting data over the wire which made me  realized something about networking. I learned also about what are in the telephone wires.  I also learned that an optical wire-connections are the backbones to the Philippine network. i  learned also what are are in the telephone line, and telephone box that I always saw on the street. I also learned the technology that they try to innovate in their lab. I was exposed to different technologies in their lab that made me realize something new ideas. My experiences in PLDT fill some of the missing piece in my jigsaw puzzle of ideas about networking.

In the Spi global, I learned the history of their company and the company structure of their company. I found out that their company is number one in the BPO industry and I also found out that they are owned by PLDT chairman, Manuel V. Pangilinan. In the discussion, I learned things about outsourcing.  I learned also the services that they offer to their clients.

What I Liked?

                What I liked the most is to see the high building of manila. I liked also the fact that our field trip was well planned and organize. i also liked the bus that they used for our travel. I liked the food that they offer to us. I also like the fact that our tourist guide is knows everything about the place and he approachable.

What I didn’t like?

                The thing that I don’t like most is the fact that the only available water is cold. It severed my colds that time. I don’t like also that we are eating in a running bus. It’s hard to eat while everything is moving and shaking which made me not enjoyed in my breakfast that time. i don’t like the fact that the tour guide always talk something nonsense which made me feel dizzy at that day.  i don’t like that from the airport we eventually have our company visit and force ourselves to have our breakfast in the bus while it is running.

Fieldtrip Overview

The Fieldtrip is part of the curriculum which will be taken by junior students (third year standing) of the College. The aim of the fieldtrip is to expose us to the existing technologies, existing careers and existing ideas related to our course. The fieldtrip was organize by our adviser, Randy Gamboa, and the representative of our class, Karlo Bueno. We had number of meetings so that we will know what would be the plans for the trip. Sir Randy and Karlo are discussing the things that will be needed for the trip together with the class. We discussed about what hotel we will stay, the company we will visit, the plane that we will take and the amount of money to cover primary needs about trip. the We are only 20 students who qualified to be in the field trip and it makes easy for us to organize stuffs. We had our tickets from airphil as what was planned. we stayed  in Kabayan Hotel and had our itinerary, our bus, and tour guide from Maynilad Tours.

                 On the first day, the first thing  I did for that day is to prepare for our early flight of 6:30 and we had to be there 2 hour before our flight, around 4:30. had to wake up 2:00 am, considering the distance of the airport from home it would take me at least an hour and a half to travel with taxi.  After more than an hour, i arrived to airport. After getting our ticket, we had to wait for our flight. When we arrived to manila, Maynilad welcomed us when we arrived to NAIA. The first thing happened when we arrived Metro Manila is having our breakfast while in a running  bus going to PLDT(Philippine Long Distance Telephone) Company. The breakfast was from Mcdonalds. We got our lunch from Kenny Rogers and we ate our lunch again in a running bus while going to our next company visit at SPi global. After then, we took our first mall walking in SM Mall of Asia for 2 hours.  Afterwards we had our first night in KABAYAN Hotel.

                On the second day, we took our breakfast in hotel and begin our departure to UP(University of the Philippines).  After then we arrived at UP Diliman, Quezon City and join y4it conference. We ate in our bus, but this time, it is not running. And after the events in UP we had our second malling in Fiesta Mall for limited number of hours. We then have our dinner in the hotel and spend the rest of time resting.

                On third day, we begin our departure to Fluor in Muntinlupa City after breakfast. After some numerous discussion about something, they tour us in their company. after that, we took our lunch in Festival Mall  out of 200 meal allowance given by the tour guide. We then gone to dost after lunch. then have some discussion about their mission and goal under noynoy administration. After the discussion, we then gone to their somewhat like museum about the Filipino inventions and scientist. We then have our another malling in market!market! for limited number of hours.  I had my dinner in the hotel and eat midnight snack from McDonalds. Then I spend the rest of the night resting.

                On the fourth day, we begin our departure to SSS(Social Security System) in Mandaluyong City. And have some symposium. After the symposium, they tour us to their building where people process something to SSS. After the tour we got our lunch in a buffet restaurant. We then went to greenhills shopping center , since we have so much time before our schedule to exist. After that, we then gone to eXist. As usual, we then undergone some discussions about something about their company and then travel back to the hotel to have our dinner. After we ate our dinner, we den one to divisoria in Manila City.  After a few hours, we got back to the hotel. Some got some midnight snack from McDonalds. And i end the day by sleep.

                On the fifth day, we went to the national museum. First, we have some discussion about we were about to see along the building the we visit. Then we have our tour on the displays about the Philippine-treasures. After the tour, we went to Rizal Park. There, we rode the Kalesa. After taking pictures, we then have our lunch in tutuban mall in Manila City.  We bought something for our family and friends. After that we then gone to the airpart to catch our 6:00 pm flight.

                After the trip, we had a fun time with my friends about the things that happened while finding something to ride us home. i took taxi to ride me home thanking to the safe trip that I undergone.
